Data were collected in villages and forest-exploitation camps between 2001 and 2002. The study relied on group survey data and selected research villages that experienced direct effects of forestry that were located in the UFA1 forestry zone.

conclusions & Takeaways

Forest exploitation by the Leroy-Gabon forest company results in many negative social and economic impacts. These include local unemployment, lack of subsistence food trade opportunities, negligence of "existential" problems, and social injustice.
