Multiple-Purposes Reforestation on Degraded Lands in Longyang, Chin
Background
The following is a project design document submitted to the UNFCCC in 2008 for a project to restore and preserve degraded forests in Longyang, Yunnan, P.R. China. The project will be headed by the Longyang Forestry Farm in cooperation with local farmers.
Goals & Approach
The objectives of the proposed project include: establishing a buffer zone between the nature reserve and the surrounded communities, removing the invasive weed, Eupatorium, mitigate soil erosion, mitigate climate change through tree planting, increase income and alleviate poverty of local communities.
Reported Takeaways
The project was proposed to begin in January 2008 and last until 2038. But as of 2010, the project was withdrawn.
