This document provides a series of case studies about forest landscape restoration projects from across the WWF network. The authors provide overall lessons as well as country-specific lessons. The authors summarize lessons learned across programs for the different stages of restoration programs.

Conclusions & Takeaways

This text describes lessons on initiating a restoration programme, defining resoration needs and linking restoration to a large-scale conservation vision. It also includes definitions of strategy and tactics, and provides lessons on implementing restoration at large and small scales. The text describes co-benefits of forest landscape restoration  and emphasizes long timeframes necessary to implement forest landscape restoration. Finally, this document describes the assignment of value to restored landscapes and how this relates to land use decisions, as well as the importance of the financial and political sustainability of forest restoration projects
